Population growth is an important topic in population studies because society is constantly changing due to population growth and decline. Koya is the center of Koya district, one of the districts of Erbil province. It is located in the southeast of the province, covers an area of (2095) hectares, in 2020 the population is (95186) people in the same year. The aim of this research is to present the population growth of Koya city during the years (1957-2020). The problem of the study is that there are many differences in population growth according to the stages of the city during (1957-2020), in addition to an introduction, conclusions and recommendations. The most important results: 1- Koya city has undergone a lot of demographic changes during the study period, so that the highest growth rate during the period (1977-1987) was (9.4%) per thousand, the lowest rate (1987-2009) (1.3) difference This is due to the natural growth of rural-urban migration despite the lack of population data. 2- Several other natural and human factors such as: geographical location and geological structure of water resources, with political, economic, demographic, administrative and service factors have affected the population growth. The most important recommendations. 1- Koya Statistical Office should pay attention to the data and information about the population and coordinate with other institutions to provide accurate data. 2. Limiting the migration of villagers through the development of villages and the provision of services.
